    No journaling app I’ve used or explored comes close to Day One. The user interface and experience is richly featured yet simple, intuitive and empowering. Consistent across all iOS and MacOS devices, syncing is seamless, and security and privacy is well thought through and complete. The Day One team issues regular updates, improvements and I’ve come across no perceptible bugs that impede using the app. Its just an extremely well crafted package, and joy to use. Worth every penny of the paid subscription.

    The app has an extremely dated design and does not use modern Apple design elements at all. It looks more like Google Material design 2014 than Apple SwiftUI 2020. Though the app functions it is extremely buggy on the latest iPadOS especially when using the magic keyboard. The cursor randomly disappears and keyboard input will randomly drop out at times due to the app misinterpreting the cursor focus.

    Nope. But have ZERO problem paying for like 3 friends espresso drinks versus 3 times that an hour for a therapist that may just tell me what I want to hear, and not show me in my own words what I don’t want to see. I hate loss. F—g hate it. Unfortunately, you will still lose things you love ❤️ But I believe being able to have a journal that is backed up safe and secure in the cloud with all your ugly crying and happy tears will give you some relief or just maybe help you on “one of those days”. I just reached out to the support with an Improvement idea. Was shocked with an immediate reply. Not only are they on it (don’t need to reinvent the wheel😜) but the wonderfully human sounding reply shared an even better part of their roadmap potential ideas. Not gonna spoil the freaking awesome surprise! So grateful in general anymore...haha 2020.. but really hope everyone gives this app a chance and takes some time for themselves. It’s scary but less scary than never even trying and maybe never growing ..or being able to see yourself growing. Be kind to yourselves & everyone around you ❤️❤️❤️

    So far I have only tried the free version of the app. However, after using this app has very well served my needs. I am able to back date entries since I like to write about my day the morning after. I also enjoy that I am able to attach a photo a day. The layout is also simple and easy to understand.

    The best journaling app I’ve tried, especially the prompts. Other apps have the same basic questions, which are just boring to me.

  • Sadly unreliable as safe storage for precious pictures and thoughts

    I used this app to store private photos and words for about a year. And it would randomly lose my entries and media. This was sad for me because the entries and photos were important and precious. Very disappointing- seems that a journal app should be able to reliably retain entries and media. Now I will never get them Back. And it’s only been a year using the app. And I’ve lost maybe 10 percent of my entries. Imagine believing that it would be reliable storage for important journaling over the course of many years. I certainly have no faith in that. Will be switching back to the old immortal pen and paper. Oh, and tech support was of absolutely no help whatsoever.

    This app made me realize how easy and enjoyable journaling would be. The 21st century idea of journaling has been fully realized with this app. I’ve wanted something like this for years. And here it is! I love that I can take photos/video throughout the day to capture the special moments. I never feel like it’s a struggle to keep up because the format of all the templates are so easy to answer and keeps my brain active and in the present daily. Thank you so much for making this app! So many great features that it’s too much to list here.

    I love how nice it is to write and add photos in the same entry. I can also have multiple journals for different things like personal and work life. Recommend!

  • Widget support is bad

    Dayone widgets are very broken. It consistently shows the wrong date and when I tap it it doesn’t take me to the date shown or the current date, takes me to a random date. I don’t think it’s just Apple widgets that are broken either because the Wikipedia widget updates everyday and works perfectly when I tap it. Pretty disappointing because I like the widgets they are attempting to provide but they do not work for me at all.
