  • Closest thing to an IDE for iPad

Textastic has it’s issues, but overall I’ve yet to find a better code editing experience on any iOS device.
  • For years people have been asking for spellcheck to be enabled.

I used to love Textastic, but it is getting stale and long in the tooth. It pales in comparison to editors that I use on other platforms. If you have ever used UltraEdit on Windows, you will know what I am talking about. Textastic has been around for far too long to not get similar features. Especially spell check.
  • Can’t compile

I bought this with the thought of the app actually compiling/executing my code. Found out it doesn’t do that. Its basically just a notepad with auto colorings. How may I get a refund? I would've kept it if it had a compiler
  • Very strong, customizable editor

Still my go-to code editor on the iPad. Nice integration with the iOS file system and works well with files on remote servers. This is a stable and mature editor for getting stuff done.
  • Capable

Hands-down the most capable mobile code/text editor I’ve found. Full, flawless regex search/replace is my favorite feature, though I do wish it remembered recent searches; there are a few I’m constantly retyping. The process for editing files stored on Dropbox/GoogleDrive could be smoother, but it does make it very clear what you’re doing. (Once you’ve downloaded a file, any time you open the local copy you can hit Menu, then “upload” or “download latest“, and confirm overwrite.)

installed and it wont prompt for cellular data so ssh wont connect its okay. ive accepted every tool i need will fail me in this period of history. however. you should get that fixed as this so far is my fav app for this stuff (on other phones) iphone 11 pro on ios 13.something. apart from that this is the best ide on the store so. dont let this review stop you. ive just had absolutely no tool work in months.
  • BBEdit is still king. iOS? Textastic

Used for years. BBEdit on MacOS? Textastic on iOS. Tolerably fast sync—usually. No way to refresh browser cache. No multi-file search/replace. No tidy/untidy or source code check/validation. (Easy enough to find online—but inefficient.) BBEdit is still king. iOS? Textastic.

This app is beyond exceptional. Everything you would need to do is in this app.
  • Where is the output?

I think this app would be incredibly useful. My only problem is none of my code is being outputted to anything. Where is it?
  • No one tried this app with a keyboard?
