  • Great app, but only with subscription

I like the app and it’s great, I tried it before. If you’re a medical student or love anatomy there’s no doubt this is a great app. If what you’re looking for is an atlas to buy and have it might not be the best option since you have to pay an annual subscription to use all the features, except for the skeleton.
  • Helpful, but sort of cumbersome to use

I use this app for medical school (free through my institution, US MD program). I like it, because the visuals are very similar to the holographic anatomy exams we have, but it is sort of a pain to navigate. You have to individually search and highlight each structure you want, and sometimes there are many different names anatomists use for the same structures. CA only uses one name for each structure, so you may find yourself wondering if the structure exists in the app but you’re just using the wrong name to search. They should have multiple alternative names listed for each structure to facilitate searching. Additionally, being able to see your highlighted structure in the context of other nearby structures is difficult to do, unless you search for and highlight each of those surrounding structures you want to see. Sometimes there’s an option to choose a surrounding region to be displayed as well (ie if you search for a pelvic muscle, there’s a button at the top of the screen to display the whole pelvic diaphragm and other pelvic viscera), but this isn’t always there and then you have to waste a lot of time re-doing it. If you exit the app, it ends your session and then you have to start over. Very annoying. And when you re-open the app, a pop up appears and asks you if you want to restore your previous session, and it doesn’t go away for like 30 or more seconds, so you can’t quite see the search bar until it disappears. They should get rid of that pop up and just automatically restore the prior session. Lastly, it’s not optimized for use with the iPad Pro keyboard. I can use my keyboard to type in the search queries but can’t use my trackpad mouse. Overall I like this app, it just could be functionally improved and easier to navigate.

I finished med school in 2014 and it’s startling to me that we’ve gone from paging through an anatomy atlas to this incredible interactive resource in that short time. I don’t think it’s a reach to call it game changing. I’m glad to have it now and wish it were around back in the “dark ages” (2009) when I was learning anatomy. OK, having said that, I managed to find something to complain about: I really enjoy using the ipad pro with the magic keyboard and the app does not integrate well with the keyboard. can’t click on items with the trackpad and manipulating images with it is buggy. not sure if an update of the keyboard (from apple) or from the app itself is needed but a solution would be greatly appreciated as using the keyboard which works very well with other apps I use spares the beautiful images in the app (and screen) from my grimey fingers. Thanks!
  • Return the earlier version of essential anatomy

i bought essential anatomy 4 or earlier version(not the current one) which only has several muscle layers l. I’m not a medical student, so that functions are enough for me. It’s not fair for me that the app can’t be downloaded anymore!!!!
  • Keeps restarting

Like other reviews have mentioned, the app keeps restarting every time you briefly switch between apps, even if you just go to the home screen. This was not the case before, and I can no longer use it in my study flow. I have reinstalled it as suggested by the developer and it did not resolve the issue.

This app is very helpful for medical school! But every time I reopen the app just a few minutes after using it, it keeps restarting. Please fix RAM management so it stays in the system memory for longer! For reference I am on an iPad Pro 2018 on iPadOS 14.2.

I was planning on buying this app because it looked useful, but the one time purchase is no longer available. I wish I didn’t wait this long. I’ll be looking for another app

Overall really cool app! Can get a bit wonky occasionally when attempting to rotate/ zoom in and out but helpful nonetheless. Would be cool if we could “reflect” structures like a cadaver to get better view of structures undersides (neurovasculature under trapezius for example)
  • Awesome experience.

The app is well organized, easy to deal with, contains a lot of details that are very useful. There is a video section too, and it is amazing. Thank you for this awesome app. Looking forward for next projects :)
