Description

The New Yorker app is the best way to stay on top of news and culture every day, and the magazine each week. Features: • Get a daily blend of in-depth reporting, political commentary, cultural criticism, and humor, as seen in the magazine and online-only features from the Web site. • Read each week’s magazine, cover to cover, and browse past issues. • Receive alerts on breaking-news coverage by your favorite New Yorker writers. • Listen to narrated New Yorker stories and podcasts. • Read articles off-line and save stories to finish later, on any device. • Flip through a nearly endless supply of New Yorker humor in the Cartoons tab. • Play The New Yorker Crossword, and save your progress as you solve. • Access The New Yorker Sticker Pack. Download the app, add the extension to iMessage, and liven up your texts with Christoph Niemann’s signature drawings and animations of city life. The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Non-subscribers may access a limited number of articles each month. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. Users who have trouble accessing unlimited stories or who wish to upgrade their access level may call Customer Service at 1-800-967-2082. All users have unlimited access to the Cartoon Randomizer, which does not count toward the article limit for non-subscribers. All users have unlimited access to the Sticker Pack, which is free to download and requires iOS 11 or above. A subscription costs $9.99 a month or $99.99 annually, and includes a 30-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user’s account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Payment will be charged to iTunes account at confirmation of purchase. The New Yorker app requires iOS 11 or above. I’m new to TNY (shocking, I know) and absolutely love it. As for the app, it’s v simple and clean which I like; however, I have two suggestions for improvement. First, the ability to archive or favorite articles. I know there’s a “save” feature but I use it more as a “save to read later” feature, as I’m sure many other users do as well. Second, the ability to highlight favorite passages and come back to them. Some articles are extensively long yet only a few sentences or paragraphs might be meaningful (to me). Medium has both of these features and I find them v useful.

The writing of loathing diatribes instead of engaging opinions is the wrong path.

When I subscribed to this, but it has turned out to be worth every penny. I wanted to know what the progressive point of view was on various developments. I am addicted to and well informed by The New Yorker.
  • Dark mode please

If only one improvement is possible in the next update, please make it dark mode.

Often the app will treat me like I am not a subscriber, which I have been for many years. It tells me that I have read my limit of articles, when I was told that my subscription allows unlimited access. Frustrating!!

The magazine has always been the standard for high-quality writing, journalism and integrity. The app is beyond compare. Almost every week both the magazine and the app surprise me with improvements.
  • Needs more balance !!

I enjoy the writing but is so overly one sided. Sometimes it’s hard to read the articles. I guess it is a Democrat and liberal propaganda machine. So I take it for what is is worth. Hopefully your readers subscribe to other publications to get a different point of view. Remember to be careful for what you wish fo!

I originally purchased a subscription for The New Yorker through the app via iTunes. The purchased went through but was then unable to access any content. I then contacted the app developrer, CondeNast and was told that I need to contact iTunes about the problem. I then contacted iTunes and all they were willing to do is refund my purchase and were unwilling to fix the problem. Once I received my refund from iTunes, I purchased the subscription through Condenast and now the app works fine.
