Description

Gboard is the keyboard from Google for your iPhone, packed with features to make typing effortless. On top of GIFs, emoji search, and Glide Typing, the power of Google is at your fingertips with Google Search built in. Forget switching from app to app – just search and send, all from one place. GIFs — Search GIFs for the best reaction Emoji Search — Find the perfect emoji, faster Stickers - Create or share stickers to express yourself Glide Typing — Type faster by sliding your finger from letter to letter Search and send anything from Google: • Nearby stores and restaurants • Videos and images • Weather forecasts • News and articles • Sports scores • And anything else you’d search on Google Gboard for iPhone and iPad supports the following languages: • Afrikaans • Arabic • Azerbaijani • Belarusian • Bengali • Bulgarian • Catalan • Croatian • Czech • Danish • Dutch • English • Estonian • Finnish • French • German • Greek • Gujarati • Hausa • Hebrew • Hindi • Hungarian • Icelandic • Indonesian • Italian • Japanese • Khmer • Korean • Latvian • Lithuanian • Macedonian • Malay • Maltese • Marathi • Norwegian • Persian • Polish • Portuguese (Brazil) • Portuguese ( Portugal) • Romanian • Russian • Serbian • Simplified Chinese • Slovak • Slovenian • Spanish • Swahili • Swedish • Tamil • Telugu • Thai • Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) • Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) • Turkish • Ukrainian • Vietnamese • Welsh • Zulu Privacy We know the things you type on your phone are personal, so we’ve designed Gboard to keep your private information private. What Gboard sends to Google: • Gboard sends your searches to Google’s web servers to give you search results. • Gboard also sends usage statistics to Google to let us know which features are used most often and to help us understand problems if the app crashes. • If you use Gboard’s microphone, voice input will be sent to Google for transcription. What Gboard doesn’t send to Google: • Other than your searches and voice inputs, Gboard doesn't send anything you type to Google, whether it’s a password or chat with a friend. • To help you with spelling and to predict searches you might be interested in, Gboard will store the words you type on your device. This data is not accessible by Google or by any apps, and can be cleared at any time. • If you’ve turned on contacts search in Gboard search settings, this allows Gboard to search the contacts on your device so you can easily share. None of these queries are sent to Google.

The keyboard is good, but I am missing two important features. It does not have spell check, so when I misspell some words, it doesn't underline it with red dots. Also, I cannot change a size of the keyboard.
  • Decent but needs work

The keyboard is great when searching for information, gifs, units of measurement, sending links etc. Not a surprise that google is good at those things but then it’s the not so great parts like the keys are slightlysmaller leading to more typos, the autocorrects make no sense, the gif search is (culturally)missing a lot! This is the most frustrating for me, gifs should be universal but it feels censored and very white! ( No other way to describe it)It doesn't use the apple features well, like using the space bar to move the cursor is nearly impossible, it doesn't seem to learn to adapt to how the user types or uses words, the swipe feature is terrible. To swipe a word like "type"you're gonna get the word 'your' 5 times before it figures out that you want type, no matter how specific/precise you are.

After switching to an iphone, have no choice but to use Gboard as it's the only decent keyboard with Korean support. Definitely needs a delay setting for tap and hold as the default delay is too long.
  • Voice transcription not ready for primetime

It's admirable that the developers of Gboard are trying to get a usable Google Speech to Text service in Gboard. Sadly, it's a long way from ready for primetime. I suggest the team sit down with ten users and watch them try to use the transcription feature. I can guarantee the experience will be enlightening. I understand that the keyboard might not be able to do the grpc ASR communication directly, but what you have come up with basically doesn't work. (For me, latest iOS version, iPad pro version 1 9.7) keep at it.

I am not sure why, but this app is not as feature rich as it's native Android version. It still is hands down the most functional keyboard. Something to consider is to incorporate Google's dictionary so it is utilized for spell checking. Also, why doesn't it sync to my Gmail account like when a native Android user? All my learned words lost... Seems like a waste and missed opportunity to horde more data.
