I love the fact that I can listen to articles from such a wide array of publications!!

I love this podcast. Only downside for me is I often want to share an episode with someone but I am unable to share. Most other podcasts I listen to I am able to share the episode.

All I know is that I love the melodious sounds of Edwardo Ballerini and the Julia Whelan. I actually chose to listen to stories I wouldn’t otherwise listen to if they are reading. I use this app daily. It’s amazing.
  • Too one-sided

I used to listen to this all the time and really loved how many different periodicals contributed. But, as time has gone on, I have found the various stories to be part of an echo-chamber. While the narrators are superb (they really are), the featured stories themselves are all of a piece: primarily NY-based, liberal, etc. Don’t get me wrong; I *am* liberal, but the effect of having pieces from the NYorker, the NYT, the Atlantic, etc...they’re all pretty much the same after a while (or covering the same topic). There’s just not enough variety. I find myself listening only to the book reviews nowadays (principally London Review of Books) or those from Outside. Otherwise...I find the lack of variety of topic and viewpoint to be both stultifying and too much of an echo-chamber. I’m not learning anything “new,” and I will be canceling when my subscription runs out.

I love the content but no app crashes more for me. 5 crashes in 5 minutes this morning. And after a crash it rewinds back to the beginning of a paragraph. iOS is up to date. App is up to date.

  • Content is slipping

Since NYT bought it, the content is less compelling. Fewer investigative journalism pieces from other heavy hitting publications and more short NYT opinion and fluff pieces that aren’t even professionally narrated. I guess that’s to be expected but it’s still disappointing.
