Description

Having strong vocabulary skills is a crucial element of success on the GRE test! Every day, we will provide you with an Economist passage that features a common GRE vocabulary word, plus its synonyms and definition. Experts recommend reading vocabulary in context rather than cramming definitions, and The Economist is one of the publications most frequently cited for doing so. You can save words to review later and flip through our archive to see words from past days. This app is best used in combination with the full Economist GRE Tutor program, which utilizes adaptive learning technology to provide top tier practice for every topic on the GRE. Our goal is to help you achieve your target score on the GRE exam, and help you gain admission into the grad school of your choice!

Great app, a little buggy. Only downside is that it doesn’t give any notifications, so you have to make sure to the check the app every day on your own

The Economist/GRE Vocabulary is a very useful tool to improve your daily vocabulary and reading skills. It is not like most Improve Your Vocabulary or Word of the Day apps. The words are meant to improve your writing skills for a work or school environment. That is what is important. Words with real meaning rather than words with literary flair which no one will understand. Also, with a touch of the star, you can create a Study Guide section to review and study all the words you mastered each day. This is a very useful tool for school, the GRE’s, work and writing grants. Everyone, especially those who read grants want words that they can understand and it makes your writing real, understandable, honest and easy to explain the ideas you have expressed. I just won a grant because I was told that my ideas were easy to understand. I had real proposals all could understand around the breakfast table during a morning conference when most grants are read. People must be able to read your ideas and understand them real fast. These meetings are fast and your grant needs to be understood very quick and easy to comprehend. I have been using this app for a while. To mention, you must have a good vocabulary which this app develops through time and a Study Guide to review the words you considered important to become part of your daily vocabulary. Plus, this app is FREE. Get it, it is excellent!
  • Useful app for expanding vocab

User-friendly. Gives a sentence example before the definition. Seeing the word in context first is an effective way to learn new vocab. Would be great if it included the pronunciation for each word in a sound clip as well as phonetic notation.

The app has really great selection of words! No doubt about that. But the app is such that every time I launch it it starts over from the beginning! It does not remember the words already studied.

I love this app. So much so, I’ve signed up for their AI GRE prep course, too. Ready to rock the GRE!
  • Won’t work

It won’t let me log in so I can only see three definitions.
  • It’s good but...

I think more time has to be devoted to it. Twice so far I’ve seen the definition of a word contain the word or an allotrope of the word itself. Not the best for figuring out what it means.
  • Is anything better than this?

If you are tired of boring texts, using words out of context, then this is the app for you.
