Description

"Decibel X PRO" is one of very few sound meter apps on the market that has highly reliable, pre-calibrated measurements and supports frequency weightings: ITU-R 468, A and C. It turns your iOS device into a professional noise meter, precisely measures the sound pressure level (SPL) all around you. This extremely useful and beautiful tool will not only be a great tool for many uses but also bring you a lot of fun. Have you wondered how quiet is your room or how loud is a rock concert or sport event? "Decibel X PRO" will help you answer all of those. WHAT MAKE IT GREAT AND STAND OUT FROM OTHER APPS: - Trusted accuracy: the app is tested and pre calibrated for all Apple devices. The precision is matching with real SPL devices - Apple Watch support: see noise level right from your wrist - Health App integration: export noise levels directly into Health app. - Frequency weighting filters: ITU-R 468, A, B, C, Z - Powerful, smart history data management: + Recording data can be saved into a list of history records for future access and analysis + Each record can be exported as hi-res PNG graph or CSV text via sharing services + iCloud support which synchronize all history records across your Apple devices + Fullscreen mode to give overview the whole history of an record - Dosimeter with NIOSH, OSHA standards - FFT and BAR graphs to display real time FFT. Those are very useful for frequency analysis and musical tests. Real time predominant frequency is also displayed. - WAVE graph with 2 display modes: Rolling & Buffer - InstaDecibel to capture your dB report overlaid on photos and easily shared via popular social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Messages, etc.). - Support both Portrait and Landscape layouts - Beautiful, intuitive and carefully crafted UI design - Optimized for iOS 11 OTHER GREAT FEATURES: - Standard time weightings (Response Time): SLOW (500 milliseconds) and FAST (200 milliseconds) - Trimming calibration from -15 dB to 15 dB - Standard measurement range from 30 dBA up to 130 dBA - HISTO graph for plotted history of the recorded values - Real time scale level chart - Display Current, Average/Leq, and Max values with both nice and clear digital and analog layouts - Quick reference text to help you compare with real-life examples - "Keep Device Stay Awake" option for long duration recording - Reset and clear current recording at any time - Tap on Max value to reset at any time - Pause/Resume the tool at any time NOTES: - Please do not expect a quiet room reading will be 0 dBA. The range 30-130 dBA is the standard usable range and an average quiet room will be about 30 dBA. - Although all devices are pre-calibrated, custom calibration is suggested for serious purposes requiring higher precision and accuracy. You will need a real external device or calibrated sound meter as a reference, then adjust the trimming calibration until the reading matches with the reference. • No horizontal meter view w/ iPad Mini 2 & No Support

This a 5-star app undermined practically by two things: There is no apparent way to have the decibel meter viewable when my iPad Mini 2 (iOS 12.x) is horizontal. That is, the decibel meter and frequency graph visible in vertical mode reduce to graph only. Horizontal view allows placing the iPad in a more stable position, especially when in a supportive keyboard style case. And second, the Support page to contact the developers about this never loads. I will upgrade this review when the developers fix these.
  • Really helped

We tried to track noise levels (in our restaurant) before and after acoustic baffles were installed. It helped quantify our improvements... thanks
  • Peak hold feature needed

Good overall decibel meter. The “peak” shown on the main screen appears to be an average peak measurement, which works for many tests. If the app offered the ability to switch between displaying a peak hold line or average peak line it would be even more useful. With the peak hold feature you could run several scans of the environment or test subject and display peak sound level vs the full audible frequency span. Quite useful if you want to characterize the peak response of a speaker across all audible frequencies. As of now the only way to see the full frequency peak line is to record the phone screen, replay the average peak pink line as it sweeps frequency, and manually record sound level at each frequency. The built in recording feature doesn’t show sound level amplitude on the Y axis and you can’t export a video of the recording, thus the need for screen capturing. Skypaw, when can the peak hold feature be added?

8.2.6. Pardon me developers but this latest update has lost my level history graph. Now it is just blank.
  • Got Rid Of Best Map?

Why would you get rid of the best map you had that showed the decibel level changing over a period of time? Who had the genius idea to do this? Or is the new map you put in its place broken? The Y axis shows decibels but it showing double what the decibels are. So 40 dB is showing up as 80.

I use this app all the time and have found it accurate and stable. Thanks to the team!
  • Very intuitive to use - Recommended

Seems accurate although I have no way to verify. But I think it’s in the SPL range of what I expected while listening. It’s of course consistent internally, and from song to song. It’s my Go - To among my several apps of this type.

  • Cannot play recorded audio

I purchased this app under the assumption that I will be able to play the recorded audio files. However, that is not possible on this app. I went to play a recorded audio file and all I see is an alert that reads “Audio file cannot be played.” I am very disappointed as this app is $15.99. Someone needs to fix this ASAP.
