  • Use this app all the time

I use this app to store the recipes I make that I really like. I have the app on my phone and on my computer. It's convenient on my phone because if I'm out and I think about making something, I can look up the ingredients I need then and there without having to run home to get the recipe.

I've been using this for quite some time now. It just keeps getting better. I even use it with a DIY category to keep simple household tasks and hacks that otherwise would require looking for the manual or doing a web search to refresh my ailing memory.
  • Booo! Separate purchase to sync to Mac?

I love the iOS versions of the app and love the app itself but feel a little misled that it's advertised "sure you can sync to all your devices" but then a separate fee is required to do so for a Mac. Come on guys....
  • Exactly what I've been looking for

I wanted something that could import recipes from the files from another (outdated) program, grab recipes from web pages and give credit to the web sites for them, print nicely, and sync between my computer and my phone. It's done everything I wanted, and I had a great (and fast!) email conversation with customer support to get my old stuff imported. Very happy customer!
  • Decptive description for syncing

App seems to work well on my Mac, but the option to upgrade to be able to sync across all of your devices is deceptive. The $5.99 upgrade to sync across all of my iOS devices is worth it, but to have to pay another $5.99 just to be able to use the app synced on the ONLY mac we have in the house is deceptive. Developer provides the same canned response to everyone who complains about having to purchase multiple times to cover iOS devices and Mac devices. Kind of ridiculous when iOS apps can be ported to Mac. In short, i paid $5.99 to be abel to sync my recipes with the one Mac I have.

What an amazing program. I was a bit skeptical that it could really do all it claims. But YES it really will take a hand written old recipe and make it digital.
  • Great App at a Great Price

This is an amazing application. At an amazingly low price. For $6 you usually get a piece of junk. This is a full-grown, well-designed, feature-laden, easy to use program. I cannot remember ever seeing a more thoughtfully designed application at ten times the price. Once you become accustomed to the navigation process on the home page, it is very easy to find the recipe that you want. You can tag a recipe by “course” (e.g. breakfast, side dish, dessert), by Category (e.g. beef, chicken, pasta, or your own terms), or Collections (which you designate in Preferences). You can search for recipes using Keywords, which you can assign to any recipe. Recipe Keeper is so much more than a basic substitute for an index-card recipe file! Among other features, you can do the following: - Change proportions (e.g. from 4 to 6 servings or from 8” cake pan to 9” pan); - Convert between Imperial (ounces) and Metric (grams) measurements; - Link one recipe to another (e.g. link “pie crust” recipe to “Concord Grape Pie” recipe); - Scan recipes from photos of cookbook pages or even hand written recipe cards, or PDF files, which will be converted to text files by the built-in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature; no extensive typing needed; - Store the source of the recipe, including a linkable URL; - Add photos of your culinary creations; - Print recipes or export as PDF files, or copy to clipboard as text; - Share a recipe by sending someone a unique URL that links to your recipe files (requires sign-up for account on the app’s cloud server); - Plan menus and meals for up to a week; - Create shopping lists from the menu planner; - And much, much more! The Internet is a great source of recipes and cooking information, but every culinary web site/blog author makes you scroll through 20 screens worth of discussion about how her grandmother made pie crusts or his uncle smoked pork shoulders — plus a dozen ads — before you get to the actual list of ingredients and the cooking directions. I hate that. But with this app, I can simply copy and paste everything , move it to a text editor, trim it to size, and then paste the desired text into the Ingredients and Directions windows on a “New Recipe” screen. Among many nice extra features, Recipe Keeper will convert most fractions to the actual fraction symbol, such as 1/2 will convert to the actual fraction symbol. Another lovely touch: when using my MacBook, I can pull up a recipe, and when I double-click on a paragraph it is *boldfaced* so I can move from step to step easily and never lose track of where I am in the instruction and/or ingredients listings. More: there are separate versions of Recipe Keeper available for the Mac (OS X) and for portable devices (iOS). They charge a separate $6 fee for each version, but you can use each version on multiple devices (e.g. iPhones and iPads). And you can create files on one platform or device and share it on all your other devices. Family Sharing is also implemented for the “free” (limited feature) versions so others in you r family can test-drive the app. The Recipe Keeper **Help** file is easy to use, thorough, and… actually helpful(!). Lastly, if you have comments or suggestions, such as for new features, the app makes it easy to contact the developers, and they are VERY responsive. HIGHLY, HIGHLY Recommended!
