Description

Frequent note-taking requires a fast note-taking app. A convenient one. With the interface simple as possible. SideNotes is designed to take notes really quickly. To catch your buzzing thoughts. The ones that fade away in no time. What makes SideNotes different? It keeps your notes on the side of your monitor. Appears when you move your cursor to the side of your screen. And auto-hides. Note down - move on. It can’t be any simpler. SideNotes shows you several notes at once. Just scroll to see the rest of them in a folder. It’s also excellent for momentary notes: phone number, brilliant idea, an important screenshot. Place them in SideNotes for now. Then move them to your writing app or task manager. Or just let them stay at your fingertips in SideNotes. Its slim window gives you enough space for convenient writing. At the same time it’s small enough not to distract you from your main workflow. You can make your notes stand out by adding color stripes. It’s a cozy place for your: ideas, inspirational quotes, pictures, fragments of code, phone numbers, links, vocabulary, recipes. Anything that needs to be written down immediately. SideNotes was designed for those who love to keep their countless notes handy and organised. With SideNotes you can: - smoothly pull out your notes from outside your monitor and easily hide them back - mark notes with colors and group them into folders - drag and drop pictures directly from your web browser - save links, code snippets or even colors - create task lists and mark items done - create notes directly from the pasteboard - drop text files or pictures, so they will be added as new notes - drop any other files and application will keep shortcut to them with a nice preview - search for any notes or folders - use 3 text formatting modes: Markdown, Plain Text and Code.

I love the app. I have tried out several apps like this. I ended up using each app for a specific category. Helps separate running notes and keeps it all clean. Would be nice to also come out with an iOS and cloud sync.

Was experiencing problems opening the app on Mojave, but the developer was extremely prompt and helped solve my problem in less than 24 hours. This is the most amazing customer support I've received from any app, ever! Although slightly pricey, this app is extremely useful and well worth the money. The convenience and speed of launching this app really makes my workflow so much faster and more efficient. 10/10 recommend!

This app is amazing! As a scatterbrain if I don't immediately write down important thoughts/reminders…goodbye forever. I relied on the notes app for years, curating an assortment of snippets with no context, organization, or urgency, often left to be rediscovered and decrypted months later during spring cleaning attempts. Even pinned notes became quickly outdated, just not convenient enough to view or quickly organize in the moment. Sidenotes finally offered what I was missing, quick access with an easily organizable format. On the the formatting, I mainly like the limited options as it frees the mind from spending too much time playing around with the settings. But my big annoyance is the lack of a keyboard trigger only option. I don't like clutter so the choice between a visible bar that can also open up accidentally and another icon on my menu bar is a big pet peeve. I prefer to trigger it from a hotkey, but find there's no option to do so as I have with some of my other apps. Otherwise nothing but praise here!

I love this app, it's super handy for working between local files and web files. The app is an innovative and necessary improvement for mac's native software. I'm kind of surprised Apple didn't think of it. However, as a graphic designer and typographer, i really hate how little control I have over the text and formatting. I like the idea of markdown, I think those features are useful to have, I just wish the extracurricular #'s and ::'s didn't have to be included in the text. I agree with Stubear, please make Sidenotes RTF capable and give users the ability to change the color of the entire note rather than the skinny colored line formatting option.

I've been looking for an app to replace the Unclutter app that I use. It would be nice If SideNote has a "Files" section like Unclutter - where you can drag and drop files to the cloud. In my case it goes to Google Drive. SideNote is a great app and I'm looking forward to additional features.

I use this app on a daily basis. Really amazing note app that doesn't get in your way and at the same top stays pinned on top when you want it to. Perfect for researching or reviewing when you want to jot notes as you're reading or researching documents. Here is my wishlist for improvement: I really don't want the app to open whenever I drag a document to the right end of the screen. I wish there were an option to turn off this document dragging behavior. I could simply CMD-V into a note if I really wanted to do this. I really would like line spacing to be single spaced, or leading to be reduced, or customizable. Right now the leading/spacing takes up too much space

It would be even better if this app supports icloud sync.
  • Excellent concept but missing a couple things

I love the concept behind this app and I'm getting used to having it aroudn. However, there are a couple things I'd like to see added that would make it more useful. First, and foremost, would be syncing across devices. iCloud sync is built into macOS so why not use it? I don't want to have to copy/pasta my notes from one device to another using Apple Notes. If I did thia, why use SideNotes at all? I get it. Everyone loves markdown. Or do they? I know it's trendy, or was for a while, but RTF has been aroudn for a hell of a lot longer and will still be around for a hell of a lot longer. I'd love to see an option that lets me use RTF for writing and formatting my notes. Last, but certainly not least, the color coding is helpful, but honestly colorful stickynotes are only helpful because the paper is the color, not just a small stripe along the edge. Let's see an option where the note itself is color color coded. We shouldn't have to parse a tiny 2-3px stripe to determine how we might have possibly meant to organize the note.

This is very helpful and easy to use-- worth the money. I didi change the keyboard shortcut to use it more easily for me--pops in and out for easy reference while in another app or page. Previously I was using Swift Note in the notification center. This is infinitely better. One suggestion would be allow the whole note to be a light color insted of just a line.
