  • 2FA & Navy Federal Credit Union

It could be Navy Federal Credit Union ... but I couldn't get 2 factor auth working. There are 4 options in the dropdown & the last one wasn't accessible (that's definitely a Banktivity bug/issue); but none of the three I could try worked. I now have an unused account I'm not sure how to close ... but it's never been used.
  • Very Good Financial Software

I've been a long time user of Moneydance but have made the switch over to Bantivity due to MD's lack of updates, etc. Been using Banktivity for about two weeks now and really like. Much more modern and updated interface. Relatively easy to use, but a bit of an adjustment from previous software. Nothing major. So far the only issues I've seen are a couple of minor quirks in the downloading of transactions. Some institutions were a bit difficutl to setup...don't know if it was Banktivity or the actual instituion. Some of the investment reports may be a bit weak on the informaiton provided, but not a big deal as I'll use my broker's website/app for more detailed info. All in all, very good software and well worth the fee.
  • Trying new version

I have been underwhelmed by their customer service in the past two weeks, the chat portion. If it is possible to feel rudeness through a chat, the guy I worked with was excellent at communicating it. The software itself, every rendition I seem to purchase each year, seems a bit better though not really needing a complete upgrade asking for purchase. I do like that they have done away with the direct access subscription. That was a rip off considering that Quicken offers it for free. Quicken also does not require you to purchase different verions so frequently. Banktivity is good for Mac users though I would appreciate a version that IGG can simply upgrade more instead of the excessive need to purchase the NEWEST version.
  • A Very Competent Program

I was a long time user of Quicken PC; having used it for over 20 years. After migrating from a PC to a Mac, I continued to run Quicken PC using a Windows emulator (Parallels). This became a tiring solution for me and I began searching for an alternative financial management program. Fortunately I found Banktivity. Banktivity, in my opinion, is as capable a financial management tool as Quicken PC; maybe more so. I have found it to be a very robust tool to help me manage my banking and investment accounts. The only significant issue I've had with Banktivity is with the Direct Connect feature, which has occasionally stopped updating my accounts and required intervention by the Banktivity support staff to resolve. Even these issues, though, have significantly diminished as Banktivity has been updated over the years. Is the program perfect? No. No program is. I base the merits of a program on the value it provides me. In the case of Banktivity, I believe its value exceeds its imperfections, which makes it worthy of consideration for anyone looking for a competent financial management tool capable of handling more than just basic savings and checking accounts.
  • Needs a some more attention

Issues for me: 1) There is a still a limitation with registering more than one unique 401k account held at the same financial institution with the same employer. >> this makes the silver tier "planning for retirement" moot. Other financial services do it correctly. 2) There is no way to select a transaction and create an import rule for it. Eg. I want all transactions from 'XYZ Gas Station' to be categorized under "Automotive: Fuel". >> If you enable "input rules on edit" and you split a transaction up into different categories (eg, Amazon.com -- pet, personal care, household categories), an import rule is created to split all Amazon.com transactions with the same exact categories and the same exact cost. Not very practical so I have to disable this preference option.

I’ve been hoping to completely migrate from my old, slow mac to my new iPad pro and this release almost gets me there. I’d love to see reporting added!
  • Great way to keep track of finances on iPad & iPhone

Banktivity has been a great way to keep track of my finances. Now, with version 8’s improved iOS support, I can keep track of my finances more completely on my iPad and iPhone. The peace of mind that comes from this is easily worth the yearly subscription. When I run into issues, the support team is fast and the software development team addresses my issues quickly. Thanks, folks!
  • Best financial software for Apple devices

I’ve been using Banktivity since version 4 and I can tell you that their recent pivot to support all devices with a single feature set and prices, was their best decision yet. The subscription model is the most sustainable and it shows. They are making constant improvements and I know longer need to fire up my Mac to manage my finances. Their recent inclusion to allow schedule changes on all devices is fantastic. And the little changes (tap to view the transaction instead of swipe is much needed). Thanks for all the hard work you do.
  • $50 is not free!

I have the paid desktop app. To ‘save’ data for the iPad requires a minimum of $50 a year!? This company needs to be put out of business for such despicable practices. Not one new feature has been added in the 5+ years I’ve been using this. Yet they still want to charge an annual fee; what does this fee pay for other than direct profit. For example, they can still not do double entry accounts, nor can they archive last year’s transactions. So the longer you use the app, the slower it performs. The developer response of “manually delete old transactions and manually create correcting entries in all accounts” is silly. Both GnuCash and Quicken have done these fir more than a decade. There is not one thing about this app that deserves a subscription, let alone one so outlandishly expensive.
  • Improved interface but Direct Connect failures are a showstopper

Upgraded to the new subscription based Banktivity 8 two months ago and immediately tried to set up Direct Connect to all of my financial institutions. Charles Schwab (the largest retail brokerage firm in the world) won't connect after two months of back and forth with Banktivity tech support. Problem is - IGG outsources the connectivty piece to a third party who can't or won't trouble shoot the problem. There are lots of Schwab customers out there - if they don't get this sorted out I and many others will go back to Quicken for Mac. Further - after functioning flawlessly for a month, Direct Access to my bank inexplicably quit working a week ago. Contacted tech support, they did rudimentary testing (basically told me to delete the connection and try resetting up the connection) and then when that failed indicated that forward the issue to thier third party Direct Connect vendor. Black hole...
