Please, add the functionality for saving preferred filter by default at start of app. Thank you!
  • Good apps, but can be better

It needs more shutter speed options. It does not have the 1/48 figure which is important if you use the main FILMiC apps for video shooting using 24 FPS. If you know the rule of thumb for shooting videos, always double the FPS. It does have 1/60 which is good for 30 FPS. I don’t know about everyone, but for me, I find it nice to have First Light available for videographers. For one part, it is to analyze the histogram. As for the rest, I don’t have much problem.

I can’t figure out how to zoom on this app. The tutorial says to press the lens tray but I only get a selfie option. Where are the other lens options??

I am unable to save RAW files on my iPhone 11 PRO and Customer Support has been unresponsive for the past two weeks. Very disappointed.

Lots of potential here but the app has been mostly forgotten. I paid for the subscription a year ago and in that time First Light as become free, plus we’ve not had any major updates. Sad.

App is amazing. I just wish I could change the exposure wasn’t Locked to the shutter speed or ISO.

  • 11ProMax=Grainy Photos

I bought this program based on FilMIC Pro, a great video camera for the 11 Pro Max. I use my phone and gimble for work all the time. This app leaves photos grainy. It also slows the “shutter” speed just enough that anything outside of “extremely steady” shows blur. I checked my settings to make sure everything is how it should be. With no avail I will be deleting this app and just working with either the stock camera and it’s settings or another manual camera app. I would appreciate a refund.
  • Broken HDR

At first, this app seems to have a lot going for it - intuitive, swipe-based focus/exposure settings with a great balance between simplicity and flexibility for more control over your photos - but the HDR is so hopelessly broken that it causes nothing but headaches. On my iPhone 11 Pro Max, attempting to manually adjust the exposure using swipe gestures will always result in an EXTREMELY underexposed photo. The image looks fine in the viewfinder, but the actual photo will inevitably be several stops underexposed and look nothing like the picture I just composed. The tiniest nudge of exposure adjustment in either direction will cause this issue, and even RAISING the exposure results a dark photo. Locking the shutter speed appears to fix the issue, but this sometimes causes a separate problem where the app simply won’t take a photo. I’ll press the button and hear the sound effect, but no picture will be taken. Lastly, this issue extends to DNG files as well. despite the format’s lack of an HDR toggle - after taking a photo, the lower-resolution preview picture in the Photos library will LOOK properly exposed, but once it “snaps” into the full-resolution final photo, it’ll be extremely dark. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix this problem is to turn off HDR manually and never use the DNG format. I want to love this app, but I absolutely can’t recommend it in its current state. If this developers ever fix this glitch, this app will be a 5/5 and my go-to camera of choice. Until then, stick to alternatives.
