Description

Bark Kids is the free child companion app for both Bark and Bark Jr. To use it, you’ll need to have an established Bark account and install Bark Kids on your child’s device. Here are the features this app enables: SCREEN TIME MANAGEMENT Families can set healthy time limits and create schedules for when their children’s devices can connect to the internet (through both cell service and Wi-Fi). WEB FILTERING Our web filter lets you select which websites your child can access on their devices. You can allow or block specific sites — or even whole categories like streaming services, online gaming, sexual content, and more. CHECK-INS Check-Ins are an easy way for families to get peace of mind when their kids are out and about. Rather than sending a "Did you get there?" or "Where are you?" text, you can rely on a GPS-based location confirmation from your children to verify that they've safely arrived at their destinations. It can even give you step-by-step directions via Google Maps so you can meet them where they are if necessary. PERSONAL ACCOUNT CONNECTIONS The Bark Kids app allows kids to connect their own accounts to Bark’s monitoring service (not available with Bark Jr). By allowing them to connect directly to our monitoring service, they get more privacy without having to share their usernames or passwords. WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING - "My wife and I LOVE Bark. We've had some tough but productive conversations with our 13-year-old son. It's proving to be extremely valuable." — Josh L. - “It’s just another set of protections we as parents give our kids for the digital environment (or as my 10-year-old calls it, a “cell phone seat belt”). My oldest is a 9th grader, and while I trust her, I’ve come to realize through the alerts that some of her friends aren’t truly her friends. It’s led to some amazing conversations about choosing friends wisely and recognizing toxic people. While she wasn’t for Bark at first, she’s since said she’s grateful that I saw those messages because it reaffirmed what she was feeling but didn’t know how to verbalize without sounding sensitive.” — Bark Parent - "Bark notified me that my young daughter had unknowingly revealed her phone number to strangers on Twitter. The fact that Bark notified me was impressive and led to an informative discussion with her the same day." — Jon B. - “Since Bark alerted us to the suicidal language used in the Google doc that was being used in a chat document with a friend, we have seen both a pediatrician and a licensed counselor. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. Thanks to Bark for letting us peek into our child’s mind!” — Bark Parent - “This app is a lifesaver! It has allowed us to catch so many “red flags” in the content my kids have accessed on their devices and in their interactions with friends and other people online that I wouldn’t have ever known about otherwise. The big difference between Bark and other “Parental Control” software is that Bark allows your kids to have so much more privacy. It doesn’t show you everything they do, but sends an instant alert regarding any activity that might be concerning. Highly recommended!” — Bark Parent With Bark, you can help keep your kids safe both online and in real life. Try it out for seven days absolutely free! Honestly it's not too bad, as it's not a total invasion of privacy, it only notifies your parents if something sus pops up. It can be a LITTLE over protective but just false alarms, not anything super bad. However there is one thing that I HATE about this app. It won't let me delete ANYTHING. I'd 100% understand if it wouldn't let me delete Bark, that's understandable. But nothing AT ALL? Yeah no. Anyways get this app for your family if you want your children to have absolutely no control over their devices!☺️

This is truly the worst app available on the App Store. It left our little Susie in tears because she couldn’t submit an assignment and got D. She also uses an app for texting, I forget what it’s called but she is in a few groups, and she loves to chat with them! This all seemed fine, but the Bark blocks it, and she cannot chat with them. Yes, I do acknowledge that this seems all a little silly, and need to be safe online, but do make the app a little less strict. Please respect our children’s priorities and privacy. Me and my husband are enraged at this app, #CancelBark Oh, sorry if my name is weird, I do not know how to change it and Susie was playing with my phone.

This app can be good in different types of ways.. Say, if your 13 and have a time limit until 9:00am-8:00 and only have 2 hrs to spend!! I’m sorry.. because I do too. I have a question for bark.. how do I get bark out of the AppStore, hmm like so I tried to delete bark and then I pressed, “Move to library” and then it didn’t do anything so then I want to know how to bring it back on my Home Screen. If you respond that would really help.. :) thanks! ❤️❤️
  • Complete violation of child privacy

This app is a complete violation of a child’s privacy. Children should be able to make their own decisions and shouldn’t be constantly monitored. Although some monitoring is definitely needed to keep a child on the right path

This app is a total waste first it costs a lot second it sometimes makes our phone not work and the only way i was forced to get this is because my neighbors sister’s daughter was playing roblox and this guy in the chat said something like how old are so basically trying to get her information then she got found by the man and the man got arrested so my mom got this app for that reason and i never play roblox I’ve also been playing online games since 8 years old so I know when someone is trying to get my info

I’m a parent and I’m extremely grateful for an app that allows parents to have some insight and control into their kids’ online and social activity. I know kids hate having their parents “invading” their privacy. Kids don’t need to totally understand and accept the why. Parents have dang good reasons for wanting to keep an eye on what is happening on their kids’ phones. Trust is earned. And I’ll never trust the masses of internet predators. Never.

Bark is a complete invasion of privacy. As a teen this app makes me feel like my parents have no trust in me. Please don’t download Bark, unless it’s a true last resort. Privacy is so important and by downloading Bark mine is completely taken away. I understand parents want to keep and eye on their kid and make sure they are making good decisions on line. But by doing this it gives teens no room to learn and grow from mistakes. Parents in this generation clearly don’t understand what kids need. It’s stressful and quite honestly scary to know that your parents can see exactly what your doing at any time. Please don’t download this app it ruins trust in your parents and it allows no privacy.
