  • Crash after Update

I updated to BigSUr (11.1) and now Pages won't open. My daughter's college entrance essays are due and we can't edit them. Until this we would have rated very highly.

  • A few big bugs

Pages can be the primary word processor for nearly everyone and it's more powerful than it first appears. However, there are significant problems. First, Pages has various formating issues importing Microsoft Word files (e.g., Table of contents, bulleted lists). Second, if a heading in the table of contents is too long for one line, it prints the remaining on the next line, right justified, and cutting off most of what remains. Third, Pages creates blank spaces within endnotes. When the number of references exceeds what can fit on a page, rather than dividing the references between two pages, the application starts the endnote on the following page, leaving a noticeable gap on the preceding page. Fourth, Pages cannot substitute smart quotes for dumb quotes. The built-in Substitutions didn't automatically nor could the process be done by manually selecting EDIT>SUBSTITUTIONS>SMART QUOTES to turn the dumb quotes into smart quotes. A find and replace turned what smart quotes there were into dumb quotes. Unfortunately, I have to use Microsoft Word until these issues are fixed. Also, Pages would be far more useful if it had easier thesaurus word replacement (as seen in Word, for example).
  • Excellent very VERY SLOW in MacOS 11.1

Something about 11.1 really slowed down Pages. There is a very long delay between pressing a key and the character appearing on the screen. Apple will probably fix this problem as soon as they (ever) see the feedback. Aside from that, the current version of Pages has climbed back up to the feature set it had before Apple burned it down to the ground and started to rebuild it from there, and it is once again a worthy competitor to Microsoft Word. Let's hope Apple pays attention to Pages and fixes this version so we can all go back to using it.
  • A excellent alternative to word

This app is a excellent alternative to word because you can open and save word documents, but you dont have to use Word, which is the biggest resource hog on a Mac.
  • Too many things that are no more

Besides elimination of Edge Blur, in Layout they seem to have eliminated ability to adjust line distances and I just noticed that the Color Selector (with upgrade to Big Sur) no longer has color selectors by numbers. I HATE it when they get rid of things I love using.
  • It's Good BUT Lacking

The templates that are here are easy to use and edit and well laid out, however, there are very few of them. Especially in the stationary department.

That new icon is terrible! Only keynote's is worse than that. It's ugly and amature. If they will port it to iOS version I'll move away from appl apps just not to see that ever again.
  • Its AWESOME

I have no idea why this has such a low star rating. I've used MS Word...one word...AWFUL! Google Docs is okay but their privacy policy is even horrid! Pages is private. And it's a lot like Adobe InDesign. I love it! And the best part is it sync back and forth with my iPad with ease. Absolutely love it!
