WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING “It’s like having a real phone number from the carrier. Except FREE.” –Nick “I started using this app back in 2007 on my iPod touch 3rd generation... Works every time, voice calls are clear, and no one knows it’s an app and not an actual phone. Highly recommended.” –Scott “I have used this app as my main phone number for years. It is just as reliable as an actual phone number.” –Kay “I’ve tried several, but hands down, Pinger is by far the best. Why? Simple: It works. Period.” –Tuc “I would rate this like 100,000,000 stars but can’t :/ only 5.” –Molly “Great to have a backup number especially when you travel abroad.” –Milo —— © 2020 Pinger, Inc. I’m leaving after 12 years of using this app. I understand you need to make money and that you need to have some ads in there that’s OK but now this app is more just adds! when I sign on when I sign off it is totally totally too much overwhelming don’t use this app no wonder everyone uses WhatsApp it’s fantastic

So I phoned the number given to me by this app from another phone... and it came through as caller unknown w/NO TELEPHONE NUMBER associated. So if you miss a call and no one left a VM, you may not find out who called. Then I called the app from the other phone and did see the app number pop up. Next, I sent a text from app to phone. It worked. Then a reply from phone to ping app and it also went through. Then I phoned the app again and this time it showed the phone number on the apps call ID. Strange and inconsistent. The quality of the call seemed to be great with only a 1 second lag. The next day I phoned an 800 number that will always be in service and an automated system recording should’ve been heard immediately but for some reason when I phoned from the Ping app it just rang and rang and rang, then finally a message that the number is no longer in service played. (Again, that number is Never going to be out of service and it was dialed correctly). I phoned the same number again immediately after by pressing REDIAL... and this time it went to the correct destination and the companies automated system was heard immediately after initial ring. I believe the app is useful and “user friendly”; However, It seems to be inconsistent. Looking forward to improvements.

I used this app a few years back but now it’s terrible. It’s freezes a lot and has a tone of ads. You can’t do anything without 5 or 6 adds hoping up. When you call people it’s lags and you miss out in part of the conversation because it cuts in and out. Even putting it on speaker it’s like 5 or 6 second delay: we I can call people I don’t even hear it dialing. I may catch the person on the other in saying hello but barley. I wouldn’t recommend.
  • Pop up ads and audio are way too distracting

This is happening again 11/19/20 the same way the following review was behaving. This needs to stop!!!!! I know these Aps need to make money and advertise but this is getting ridiculous on this ap. An ad should not take over your screen and certainly should not have any audio unless you want to click on the ad. Heck I have my iPhone silent mode on and the ad still has audio playing in silent mode. Make the ads less overpowering and turn off the sound or you will lose me as a user.

Used to work fine now it’s unlimited pop ups that is causing the app to freeze. This latest update was trash!

I use the app occasionally and it works well for my needs. My gripe is that lately I keep receiving ‘use or lose’ messages every few days, even when I’ve been using it. Makes me think something’s wrong with their usage tracking and they’ll take my number for no reason.

I’ve used this app for several years now, back when it was just “textfree” , never had an issue until recently. I personally thought it was cool when they added the pay for minutes feature, I don’t talk a lot so having minutes for when I need them was legit. Now there’s an ad that pops up after each text, nbd right? Then after every phone call, still nbd. NOW they are blocking certain messages and want you to upgrade to receive them. SPECIFICALLY the two factor authentication codes. They KNOW almost everything requires one, and they’re choosing to capitalize on it. Then have the gall to text you and tell you they blocked the text and to upgrade to receive “these additional features” while every other short code comes through just fine. As someone who’s been down with y’all since almost the very beginning, must say I’m disappointed
