  • 49.99/month? Are you kidding?

I love this app. I am a creative/visual person with a partner who is a type-A maths & science brain. We may balance one another well, but finding an app that suits us both is... challenging. I was perfectly fine with the idea of paying 4.99/month (as the developer stated to another reviewer; don’t lie, I took a screenshot just to make sure I hadn’t misread.) $50/month? Uh, no. It simply isn’t worth it. Quite frankly, I do enough coding that I could make any number of things work for me. I am extremely disappointed. The developer was right—this would’ve been a steal at $5/month & I would happily pay that cost without complaint. As it stands, I’m afraid I’ll need to find something else because as highly rated as this app may be, there’s nothing that makes this particular app worth the amount of their monthly subscription. I worked for a web design & SaaS company back in 2010. I thought SaaS was a ripoff back then & it’s a ripoff now. The other reviewer truly wasn’t wrong about that part. Paying to add categories beyond a size (something reasonably easy to code) for home use is utter nonsense. I’m on 2 items—nowhere near 2,000. Any person who is actually paying $200 (as the developer said when stating what the software was worth) for what amounts to an in depth Pinterest board of things you own is out of their bloody mind. I know exactly what my markup is as a graphic designer. I know what my former boss charged clients. Trust me, most SaaS services are greatly overpriced because enough of the public doesn’t understand any of it well enough to really push back.

I keep having problems and when I do contact support they are not at all helpful. This product is overpriced. I will probably keep it because there are not a lot of options yet. As soon as there is I will be changing. What a joke
  • Good app, but costs more than your phone!

I’ve been playing around with a lot of inventory apps to keep track of home electronics and other items, mainly to have insurance logs and records of serial numbers, etc. I was impressed by the simplicity of Sortlys interface, but quickly ran into the frustrating limits of the free version: no more than 100 items, and only 1 custom field. Note that there are almost no fields available to use by default, you need to customize the items by adding the custom fields. So by adding a serial number as my only field I couldn’t track any other attribute of my items. That’s where I find Sorty falls short for me: you have to pay for the premium version to really make use of the app, and the free version didn’t allow me to really test it out (maybe keep the item limit but get rid of the field limit?) Now, I would happily pay for an app like this! I have plenty of subscriptions to useful home utility apps like shared password managers, etc. But the cheapest subscription is $50/mo!!! There is nothing that this app could possibly do that makes it more valuable than the cell phone on which it is running, or the network plan your phone is using! This app is obviously targeting business users, that much is clear when you use it as most of the content describes inventory and business uses, and I’m sure this cost is reasonable in that environment. Sortly really needs to rethink their Freemium model and how they structure their pricing. There are plenty of SaaS apps like this that have successfully bridged personal and enterprise use by structuring their subscriptions the right way. They seem to be succeeding for the time being by price gauging the market with customers who can afford to pay the cost, but their $50/mo subscription feels more like a $5/mo subscription compared to the value of other similar services.

  • Not usable-overpriced

Terrible! Barely usable, and so expensive. It’s 50 dollars a month for anything even worth using an inventory system for... I couldn’t imagine paying more (which there’s a more expensive option). I read a response from the creator that it was only 4.99 a month... lies!!! Also that it was competitively priced.... not even close!
  • I wanted to like this app but...

I just can’t justify paying an annual fee to use an inventory app. A one time price would’ve been acceptable to me, especially since there are other inventory apps that do charge a one time fee. The UI on this app is excellent and the items pop out at you. It’s a great app but like I said, I cannot justify paying an annual fee.
  • Expensive!

    Good app but extremely expensive.
  • Insane price for “Personal” usage

I get that an app like this for a business should have a high price tag. Business would use this to make money and should pay accordingly. But why have a “Personal” option in the setup and still charge hundreds of dollars a year? This is app is priced for enterprise usage. You should either leave for that type of customer or have a pricing option for personal usage.
  • Beware: Sortly will not guarantee your account is secure

I purchased the Sortly app in the spring of 2019 and spent a considerable amount of time uploading pictures of all my keepsakes and collectibles. Then, 15 months later, while making arrangements to move, I found my Sortly account had disappeared. Sortly Customer Service said they had no record of my account, despite me having the original “Welcome to Sortly” email and records of my paying for the account through the App Store. All the work I put into my Sortly account was for nothing; worse yet, I’ve paid the company for the past 15 months for the privilege of NOT having an account with them. Stay away from Sortly if you want dependable customer service and security of your account. It may not be there when you really need it.
