  • Digital and paper subscriptions are now a nightmare

    The takeover by Meredith Publishing has destroyed this fine magazine and app. It’s nearly Thanksgiving, but the Oct/Nov issue for the magazine and digital edition isn’t out yet. Purchasing special issues doesn’t work, back issues are lost. It’s a nightmare. Considering canceling my subscription.

  • Buy the hard copies!

    The one good thing is that customer service is super responsive but what purpose does it serve, when everything on the backend is screwed up? The current application is useless. I repeatedly have to uninstall and reinstall the application because it stops working each time. Not only that the company has historically done a terrible job archiving previous digital purchases, so if you have money to throw away go ahead. I don’t need FC to reach out to me in an ATTEMPT to resolve the issue. Just fix it. Until then I’ll be buying the hard copies.

    I have subscribed to this app for years, but have had nothing but trouble with the app. I guess I should go back to the paper magazine. They do not seem to be trying to improve this app either.

    The update is messed up. Lost some of the old magazine. Like the breakfast ones I know I had two and none of them appeared in the restore And it still downloading the magazine. If we do a digital subscription it’s because we want to keep all the issues. There is at least one recipe that I use from every magazine no matter how old it is Stop reinventing your digital platform as every time it’s worse

  • Needs to return recipes not articles

    Very difficult to navigate. You can’t navigate to the top of an article when you scroll thru it. The search does work on specific recipe names but instead returns articles that cover the category of food. E.g., “flatbread salad with tomato, chickpeas, feta, and mint” returns articles about salads. Then when you are in the article, you can’t “back” out of it. You have to close the app and relaunch. There MUST be a name search or a fuzzy name search that returns individual recipes instead of larger articles.

    Right after downloading it all works fine. Suddenly is closes, and when I try to open it again, it spins indefinitely without ever opening. The only way to get back in is to delete the app, and redos load/install. This is unacceptable. I have over 6 other digital magazines that I subscribe to, and I have no problems. The transition of FIne Cooking to Meredith and the ZINIO app has been a disaster!

    This app is pointless. It is a magazine app, not a recipe search app for the FC magazines. If I want to find a recipe for the eggplant I bought this week, I can only scroll through each magazine individually in hopes of finding it. How worthless is that!!!

  • Does not pair well on iPad

    Have massive issues with this magazine not recognizing my subscription. I think I have paid double and triple with print subscription and multiple online subscriptions that often will not be recognized. Took two weeks to get old archived issues to show and multiple emails to apple support who say it is the app developers problem. Still cannot get current issue that has been out for weeks. Not sure who’s issue -apple or developer - but in the end it’s my expensive problem. I get many magazines and this is really the only problem one.

    I’m a 25 year print and digital subscriber and Meredith Publishing has made a mess of it. Hard to know where to begin. With no notice, recipe box function in which I had stored 300annotated recipes, has vanished. Search engine has turned up one and app frequently kicks me out to the subscribe page. Not seen anything earlier than 2016 My operating system is up to date so no excuses Received the latest print copy. Smaller format and poor quality paper. I will be canceling and hope others will follow suit. Tried it again this morning. I’m signed in,- all covers appear —-and I’m now asked to fork over $6.99 for each issue!!!!! Gets worse, not better. I’ve used the email system and will see if Meredith responds with a remedy.

    I’ve been a fine cooking subscriber for over 15 years. The search engine is poor and cannot find the recipes that I had in my recipe box that I have collected over the years. I regret buying this app.
