  • Good summaries but need more content

I got a free trial through Amex. I was interested in this app to reduce my screen time since I just got Lasik eye surgery. There are some great audio summaries of some non fiction books that I’ve always been too lazy to completely finish. There are some others that are just opinion pieces or information content that are not summaries, and those can be a hit or miss. I’d like to see more content overall for me to be a paying customer, but so far the app has kept me entertained.

The current one isn’t total black. Waste of apples newer hardware. overall interface feels like it was designed a decade ago. Annoyed to not see much changes for the subscription price

Since I was born I found the habit or reading kind of stressful, and always that I tried to focus on reading it consume many of my energy. While using blinklist,I have enjoy each of everyone of the audiobooks that I have listened. Therefore I found this art of reading more like listening a movie. I recommend this app greatly to everyone and most,to how want to find any knowledge, and enjoy learning. There are thousands of books by any topic. If you are someone trying to making reading a habit and lack for some motivation or simply someone looking for specific information in short time, this is your app.
  • My favorite 15 minutes a day...

Blinkist has become my weekly go-to for over 2 years. Four to five times per week I take my fresh morning coffee outside to my personal greenhouse porch, and submerge myself into a meaningful drift defined by my impulse selection of another Blink for the Day! Allowing me to have a daily fresh breath of cerebral air allows me to set up my day by equalizing my mood, and percolating the grey matter into being ready to engage the world. Thank you Blinkist for being that trusted departure that allows me to warm up my mental engine each day. I’m driven to listen to as many blinks as possible, and if I don’t have time to read an actual book, I am complacent to know that I got 15 minutes for myself, before donating my life to the world. Keep up the good work, as I will always appreciate daily to listen to a good blink, and look forward to my next literary adventure. Olé! EMS

Love this app. It’s simple to use and is a good way to read through books that was laying around for long time and I didn’t have the time to read.
  • Okay-ish Compromise App

Short version: You’re better off with normal audiobooks played at 2x speed. This app is a severe compromise, not a substitute, for actually reading the books you can access. Remember that it’s a 15-minute representation of maybe a 7-hour book, and no amount of careful summary will capture all of the important things in 1/30th the time. The reason is that many books – anything by Malcolm Gladwell is a good example – have much of the value in the stories, not just the headings and chapter conclusions. The approach within Blinkist is one that will make a person superficially conversant with the contents and structure of a book, but not the substance of it. This may be fine for casual conversations with no real depth, but this app will fail you as soon as you migrate to the nuance and implications of the ideas within any book. This also is very poor way for students to hack their reading assignments, akin to the grownup version of just reading the back cover. If this is all you can do to learn about some of the big ideas in nonfiction and you haven’t found targeted short form podcasts that that better fit your needs, then go for it.
  • Love many things, and ...

Love the idea. Love the content. Becoming one of my most used apps. Needs some work on the UI. The idea of the queue is essential for building a playlist of short reads, but I cannot find a way to get directly to the queue. All I find is a way to get there once a selection is playing. Yes, I can add to it from the library, but I can’t get straight to it. I can’t change the order. When a suggestion shows up at the bottom of the queue, I can’t add it to the queue. If I click on it, it starts playing and knocks what I was listening to off the queue. So, idea, great. Content, great. UI? Weirdly lacking in obvious ways. UI is unintuitive and lacking in obvious functionality.
