    Disasters when theres no disaster happening which means I can't save my progress. I loved this game as a kid and bought it to relive that part of my childhood but until they fix the issues this is just a waste of money. I can see the last update was 10 months ago which does not seem promising for the future of the game. Very saddening.

  • Crashes every time, unplayable

    Purchased this game, it opened & played one single time. Every time after that, it crashes basically on launch in the opening teaser video after "Aspyr". Massive disappointment.

    I downloaded this game a few months ago when COVID-19 began, and it an well, with little to no crashes. In the last few weeks, the game will get through the loading menu, and into the region, but as soon as you start to try a new city, the game crashes and sends you back to the desktop. No matter what I have done, the game will not load now (Aug. 2020) This was an excellent but now all of the crashes and bugs, has rendered this game useless, and now I am out $20 for something that I can no longer enjoy. The developers need to seriously look into this. I have tried to find support on why this version does nothing but crash, but to no avail, I can’t. Please if you love Sim City 4 maybe you will have better luck if you install it with a Hard Disk, but the App Store / Aspyr version has let me down. PLEASE help us with these issues!

    This game is perfect, since you can play it for any amount of time that you need to. It runs perfectly on my computer, which is still running MacOS 14.6. I had tried several different versions before coming to this one, and none of them had worked, except this one.

    I love this game. It would get 5 stars. They don't make them like this anymore. Still, it crashed on opening every time. Even with the most recent update. I hope they fix this.

    I've had this game for a long while. That was when it was on a DVD and magnaged to get it working on after the App store version came into being. The best fix for the crashing problem is to delete the ties in the games document fodler. Go to the folder .../Library/Containers/com.apyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/ and dump everything except the Regions and Plugins folders into the trash and delete it. Once you do that, restart the game and its fixed. I had this happen before and deleete filess makes it reset and clean up the mess. It's still a good game but that was an old bug no one seemsed to clean up since it was made.

    This game runs perfectly fine. I read and followed one key instruction and haven't had a single crash. After the game downloads and before you play the first time, go into the Options-Game Settings Menu and select Play in a Window. That's it. No issues. It's the game we all knew and loved, and yes, probably the best SimCity game of all time (though I am partial to SimCity 2000). I'd give it five stars, just for nostalgia and game play, but for the interface. It's old and annoying. Moving around the screen with the right click is harder than it should be, and the freaking "auto road" feature when laying down commercial and residential zones is enough to make you uninstall right there (select the shift key when you lay out your zones to avoid the auto road). Remember, I think it's three sqaures of distance to a road that is the max Sims will travel. Still if you knew and loved SimCity, it's still a fun and engaging game. No problem spenidng $20 for a game this good. PS it runs absolutely fine on my Macbook Air 2020 (16 gb RAM).

  • Works perfectly on Catalina

    I am very happy to have this game work! After reading all the reviews, I was concerned it wouldn't work at all on Catalina. However, after launching the game, you must click options, then game settings and play "in a window". This prevents the game from crashing. It works perfectly! I last played this game years ago on Windows XP, so happy to play again!
