The app works overall fine and has been useful. That said, starting from earlier this year/late last year, the first round of 4 sessions would go smoothly, but after I skip the 25 minutes break and go directly to the next group of 4, each interval is that 25 minutes break (instead of the 5 minutes one). Was this done on purpose to promote a 25 mine break? Would much prefer being able to skip/jump as I wish.
  • Doesn't Work In Background

The time doesn't elapse on it when it's in the background. I set the timer and a stopwatch on Google. After 2 minutes and 15 seconds had elapsed on the stopwatch, the timer had only passed 35 seconds.

I’ve being waiting for a fix to this problem for months now, but so far all recent updates have not fixed it. This app for whatever reason don’t work in the background anymore. I would turn it on, and it would run in the background for a tiny bit and then it would stop. If this app. Can not run in the background, then it isn’t useable for me anymore. This is so upsetting as this was my favorite app. It was that good and still can be, but without the ability to have this app run in the background it is USELESS!!!
  • Has potential, but needs to be thought through more

Focus Keeper Review Focus Keeper is close to being a great app, it’s just too buggy and not thought through enough to be an everyday app for most Pomodoro technique practitioners. Positive first: the interface is beautiful, very clean, a gorgeous app to look at, and having a session automatically leading into a break leading into a session is great, that has really helped keep my break times to a minimum. But usage needs to be more thought out. For example, making a simple audio change like when I’m listening to a podcast during my session (I want ticking off) or working at my computer (I want ticking on) takes 7 button presses! This is way too many. Also, a bug: Focus Keeper is supposed to reset the number of sessions you’ve done so far each day, and indeed the first time you use it each day it asks if you’d like to reset, but it usually ignores your response (hasn’t reset 4/5 days so far). Per Pomodoro “rules” Focus Keeper has long breaks built in, which is really cool, but it doesn’t let you skip them. I sometimes pause a long break because the time on long breaks varies for me, and when I resume I just want to skip it and go to my session. If I do that it will come up again after my next session, and again after the next, and so on, until I actually fulfill a long session. It got so annoying that I finally deactivated that feature (by making a “round” which is usually 4 sessions, something long, like 30 so it doesn’t come up). Overall, this app feels like it’s about 80% thought through. It definitely needs to smooth its rough edges, but once it does I think it’ll be a killer app for people who use the Pomodoro system.

i used to love this app but i’m not sure if there was a new update that changed things? now when i disable “prevent screen lock” to try and save my battery life on my devices it doesn’t accurately keep track of my time spent studying (i’ve timed it and it lags and it ends up documenting a lot less time than i actually have spent studying). it also no longer works when i decide to utilize another app which is super inconvenient. i don’t want to have my screen on for hours i would like to be able to have my screen lock and still keep track of my studying on this app! pls fix i do enjoy this app a lot!!
  • No longer runs in background

Edit: with the update releases 06/14 the app does run in the background and in the widget for about two minutes and then it randomly stops possibly to do with using the phone for other tasks or who knows why. Point being it runs for a moment and quits this update DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM!!!! App in its current form remains unusable. OP: This is a great app and I’ve used it for a long time I love that it previously functioned in the widget on lock screen as well. I know you have had problems with the previous update and just released an additional update attempting to rectify those issues but at this point the app only works when the phone is unlocked and open if I do something else or lock the screen it stops counting and therefore is no longer working in the widget screen in either locked or unlocked mode. I love this app and it is still helpful but sometimes I need to do other tasks on my phone and it would be great if the timer didn’t stop. Is there still work being done to rectify this issue? Any idea when an update or fix will be available? Thanks!
  • Just bought the app. It does not work unless the phone is on and unlocked

I would love to give 5 stars. It has to work first. Please update the app.
  • Doesn’t work anymore

Used to love this app and have used it for a long time. Since most recent update, it doesn’t keep the time anymore, which makes it kind of useless as a Pomodoro timer. Can you fix this?? Update: After waiting a month, finally gave up and am deleting this app from my phone. Doesn’t keep the time anymore when screen locks. I found another app that actually works. Too bad, it was a great app until the developer stopped supporting it. I had gotten the pro version to get the “customizability”. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.
  • Small but Vital Improvements Needed

So, the app is largely good, but a few small issues really detract from the overall effectiveness and quality of the app. First, the inability to quickly restart a “group” of pomodoro timers. For example, if you have a lunch in the middle of one group, and want to start fresh when you get back, you have to manually pretend you did the rest of the first group. So if I do 3 rounds before a long break, and I’ve done 1, to start fresh at zero, I have to set timers for 2 and 3 to zero to get back to 1. This is really bad design. Second...the volume controls do nothing. I like the idea of ticking on my short breaks. But, you know, not loud. So I set the volume for those to 0.9. Except that doesn’t work. If it is ticking at that moment, it lowers. But when the next short break hits, it’s back to whatever my phone volume is. This makes that feature useless. The same is true for alarms. I don’t want to have to pick up my phone to change it every time, so I have to choose between turning off ticking or remembering to set my phone volume where I want it for this app, change it for other apps, then come back and change it for this app. The core is good. The errors render it a frustratingly incomplete app.
  • Big issues with the new update

I have been using the app for years and my experience was nothing but great. This new update changes everything! The timer doesn’t work if the app is off screen which turns the app useless for tracking time. The charts new design isn’t as neat as before. In short the the app was great until this update came along.
