  • The game is fun but the new update is trash

    I have been playing this game for the past few years. The graphics are great and there is minimal ad interference. The characters are cute and the game was fun. I am currently on level 1547. Each month or so there is a mini game within it to get new characters by completing 25-30 steps of achievement. You would normally have to collect 200-2000 extra little things within each level. This used to be nice because you could collect these little things (usually themed around the month or certain holidays) even if you didn’t finish the level. This is no longer a thing. A game that used to be played passively while still feeling accomplished is now unnecessarily harder and stressful. And if you don’t complete a level within your 40 life points, you get basically nothing. They have dropped down the required amount of things needed to be collected but it’s now just straight up frustrating. I’ll probably plan this game less until something changes.

    Love this game but way too many pops up for different options from watching videos to choosing different things. Very annoying when you just want to play the game.

    I’ve been playing Best Fiends for years—it’s my go to for a wind-down or a rest break. We have an understanding: I might not win every game, in fact I’ll lose mor often than I win. But at least I get to keep the level awards even if I win. The last upgrade broke that contract. You lose the level awards until you beat each level now. It’s so frustrating and disappointing. And so 2020. I’m looking around for a new “go to” game to play until the next version is released. If they don’t go back to le ing you keep your level awards, I will reluctantly delete the game. I’m hoping Seriously takes note of what a literal game-changer this new “challenge” is for long-time players. 😥

    2nd UPDATE:It's been awhile now since the developers have changed to charging $30 to obtain an Epic Fiend. As much as I liked the game before, I have found I don't look forward to playing anymore. It's kind of surprised me. But not having the motivation of earning gold to get the Epic Fiends, has COMPLETELY sucked the fun out of it, for me. UPDATE to my previous review, and dropping from 4 stars to 1. Sometime recently, the ability to collect epic fiends has changed from using collected gold, to using real money...$30 each!! It’s really too bad, as the use of epic fiends makes the game much more enjoyable, after the newness of playing this game wears off. I understand, the whole purpose of designing a game is to make money. I’ll still play, but the fun/anticipation has been sucked out of it b/c there’s nothing to work toward now, no sense of accomplishment. I’m so glad I did get 3 before this happened, at least. Original review... I do love this game. I’m been playing long enough that I have finally come out the other side, to where I’m not obsessing about getting play time (b/c boy I sure was, the first many months). Make no mistake about it, you don’t win a game until the game allows you to. Yes, I have won rounds the first time played, but again, only b/c the game allows this occasionally. It can get frustrating, and can be so obvious. But Seriously has done an incredible job with all the nuances and building of this game. I do wish they allowed a quicker accumulation of gold, to buy specialty fiends. All in all, a very good game

    At 75 I have time to enjoy games. I play Hay Day and Words With Friends, delighting in them very much. But none of them offers me more pleasure and playing time than Best Fiends. It’s winnable! You don’t have to buy special bombs and/or power ups. You just dig in and figure out the pattern or sequence that could beat the slugs. Sometimes you might play the same puzzle for a couple of days, and then, all of a sudden you master the game. I have spent many challenging hours mastering puzzles and I plan to continue!
