  • vertical alignment problems

I opened a new document. I placed a text box into the master page and linked it to the right side of the master page. I clicked the first page and placed an unformatted word document into the page. I hit the blue triangle holding the shift key and all the pages came into publisher. My problem is I cannot vertical align to the center of the page. The vertical align is grayed out.] I did find that if I right click after selecting the text there is an alignment option and top is checked. I click center but nothing happens. Is there a fix for this? Thank you so much for any help you can offer!
  • Nicely Done for Pros and Amatuers

Affinitty Publisher can stand alone. But it also complements the capabilities of Photo and Designer. If you own all three—they are reasonably priced—you can access the functions of all three through the interface of any one. Publisher enables you to publish electronically, on the web and in print. It requires a learning curve for the Studio. But once you understand the simple concept, you can get down to work. Publisher does good typography, tables, images, spreads, tables of contents and indexes. It comes with many templates for print and web. It publishes to PDF for distribution or for printing, including pre-flight checks. It includes many functions for manipulating text, images and layers. It can create SVG content with hyperlinks to internal and external content. If you own one or both of the other Affinity apps—Photo and Designer—you can select personas for an app to acces its functions from within Publisher. I have worked in desktop publishing since 1980. Publisher is among the best DTP applications, historically speaking. All things considered, Publisher is the best at this time.

So far it's very good. Still experimenting.
  • I wish that the program supports the Arabic language

When writing words in Arabic they are confused and incomprehensible and I hope to support the Arabic language because I am a fan of your previous applications such as Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer
  • Has potential

This has the potential to be a great replacement for InDesign, but unfortunately, it isn't. I created an ad to be placed in a newspaper. The newspaper required that the black ink be "true black" (0C, 0M, 0Y, 100K) rather than "rich black" (60C, 60M, 60Y, 100K). The swatch in Publisher indicated that I was using true black, however, upon export, it would *always* export as rich black. In order to get the ad properly exported, I had to recreate it in InDesign. Yes, the program is marginally faster than InDesign, but it isn't, as some people have said, "incredibly fast."
  • Too complicated

After reading the comments, I was led to believe this software was similar to Microsoft Publiisher, which I was extremely proficient with. However, after taking a chance on purchasing the program because of the positive reviews, I found that it is way too complicated for casual desktop publishing. However, I will probably be unable to receive a refund for the program. I am extremely disappointed! Perhaps when I have time I will work with it again to see if I can figure it out. Don’t buy this program if you are only a casual user—you will become frustrated!

  • Still does not support Arabic and Hebrew

I beleive people been requesting and demanding Arabic and Hebrew support since the first edition of Affinity products. But unfortunately the developers are as deaf as a rock to these requests. 95% of the softwares available support all languages and it is surprisingly that one of the top developers in the world are not including that support to their software. Keeping the rating for barely half a star until the support for Arabic and Hebrew is available.
