The app itself installs and opens, but in order to user the equalizer, you must install the Boom 2 audio component. When downaloding and attempting to run the Boom 2 Device Installer, I get "Installation Failed - The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance" error. Apparently it's incompatible with the new Apple Silicon M1 Macs. I reached out to support for the app weeks ago and haven't heard a peep. Used to work well on my old MacBooks, but have to give the app 1 star until the developer comes out with an update... if they ever do.

Crashes/disappears on it's own on a regular basis, especially after awaking from sleep. Works well - audio is great. But it's not reliable and they never contact you if you lodge a ticket. So not real impressed.
  • Buggy on latest

On a new MBP16" 2019 with latest software, Boom is very buggy. Audio regularly cuts out when sleeping and I have to close and re-open Boom for it start working again. Changing the Boom volume up causes nasty sounds to start that sound like could be damaging my built-in speakers. Reducing volume does not fix it, again I have to close Boom. Also one time, it got stuck or something and a tiny clip in the middle of audio started repeating indefinitely. Update: Now it seems to also drain my battery. If I close laptop lid at night, in morning battery is completely drained. Using diagnostic tools I can see it is Boom! I have tried delete and re-install but all issues persist. Completely unusable app now.

As an audiophile who hates digitized audio, this is the first app I have found that really improves the sound quality. I love the flexibility it provides me when I want to tailor the audio to my different listening environments. Very very cool.

I've had dJ speakers and a sub connected to my computer while I work, and I listen to music all the time, but the bass sounded like poop. Very low. Then I got this app and it sounds amazing. If you want to enjoy your music with better bass, get this app. You better at least have some decent speakers though.

I have used Boom 2 for years, but when I downloaded Catalina it totally screwed up my AUDIO settings. Sometimes you get no sound and have to restart multiple times How do I know this? Because I bought a second Mac and forgot to load Boom 2. No audio problems, unlike the other one that has Boom 2 after my OS upgrade. Cut to last week, downloaded it on the second Mac and now it's totally messed up my audio. Be warned!!!!

I am so glad I discovered this app which is packed full of features. I just wanted an equalizer and thought that's what I had found. I did but it also has cool room settings like "Ambience" and it has a "Pitch" feature that will blow your mind. I can't believe that pitch feature works as well as it does. I highly recommend BOOM.

I own the Bose Companion 20 Multimedia Speakers and Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones. This app is amazing with both Bose products. I have it adjusted to perfectly sound with the Companion and QuietComfort where I do not need to do any more adjustments. I could not be happier with this app.

You can select pre-configured soundscapes with a drop down menu (Classical, Jazz, Rock, etc...) or save your own custom setting by modifying the equalilzer (from 20Hz to 20kHz). I believe there is way to save output from pre-sets, experimenting with that now. Overall a great tool for sonically scaping your Mac audio.
