Description

Sign in is easy, convenient, and secure when you use Microsoft Authenticator. Use your phone, not your password, to log into your Microsoft account. You simply have to enter your username, then approve the notification sent to your phone. Your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN will provide a second layer of security in this two step verification process. After, you'll have access to all your Microsoft products and services, such as Outlook, OneDrive, Office, and more. Microsoft Authenticator also supports multi factor authentication for work, school, and non-Microsoft accounts. The app provides a second layer of security after your password. When logging in, you'll enter your password, and then you'll be asked for an additional way to prove it's really you. Either approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the verification code generated by the app.  Sometimes your work or school might ask you to install the Microsoft Authenticator when accessing certain files, emails, or apps. You will need to register your device to your organization through the app and add your work or school account. Microsoft Authenticator also supports cert-based authentication by issuing a certificate on your device. This will let your organization know that the sign-in request is coming from a trusted device and help you seamlessly and securely access additional Microsoft apps and services without needing to log into each. Because Microsoft Authenticator supports single sign-on, once you have proven your identity once, you will not need to log in again to other Microsoft apps on your device.

I’ve had to use this app for both my school and work emails. Every time I have to verify my accounts through the app I end up having to call my organization IT because I do not receive notifications through the app. It is incredibly frustrating and time consuming!! I would rate this zero stars if possible. The app is worthless and does not function as it should.

Removed accounts from active app without warning. If you use this one, make sure you have a secondary one with same accounts set up.
  • Doesn’t remember anything

This app is awful at restoring accounts. I have multiple accounts on various sites. And it will only store one of each.

If you are trying to authenticate Microsoft Teams good luck. It sends you over to this app and then this app asks you to look in this app for the code! And you can’t obviously bc you’re stuck in the sign in screen. Genius coders!

Can’t log in. It says I need a code from my Authenticator app..... I need an Authenticator code for my Authenticator code so I can get A FREAKING CODE to use the AUTHENTICATOR APP WHAT??? So basically I’m SCREWED! I have a new phone number so I can’t get a text and not only that. I can’t log into my account because I need a code for my Authenticator app which needs a further code from the DAM Authenticator app

Anytime I do attempt to approve with my watch I receive an error. Stating that it failed something went wrong. However from the phone app it works every time

Overall good app that allows seamless and secure access to corp network apps. BUT Microsoft, please create a MacOS app! A MacOS version of Microsoft Authenticator is long overdue.
