Description

FTP Server provides a simple way to share / exchange files between your computers and other devices. * Ports below 1024 are supported now (including port 21). FTP(File Transfer Protocol) is a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files from one host to another host over a TCP-based network, such as the Internet. FTP Server lets you run the FTP service on your own computer and you can access the files on the host computer with any standard FTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP. OS X provides read-only FTP access in Finder, you can press Command-K in a Finder window and enter the FTP URL (something like ftp://192.168.0.100:2121/), and connect to FTP Server. FTP Server comes with its own authentication, you don't need to expose your computer accounts to other people nor do you need to create a system user for the authentication purpose. * Features • Easy to use: you can simply start the FTP service without any additional configuration. • Configurable: server root, port, anonymous access options are available. • Built-in authentication. • Lightweight: FTP Server requires very little resources to run and the app size is relatively small. • All kinds of regular files supported: folders, documents, photos, movies, apps, backups and other files. * Please restart the FTP service after changing the configuration / the FTP accounts. Note: the default document root points to "/Users/*username*/Library/Containers/net.langui.FTPServer/Data/Documents/FTPShare", you can press Command-G in Finder to go to destination folder.

  • Doesn't work with Fetch

Trying to move stuff between a new Catalina-based Macbook Pro and an old PowerMac. Fetch does not connect either anonymously or with username/password. QuickFTP seems to work better.
  • Two good things

    1. It has LOG FILES! These are indispensable in debugging file transfer problems. 2. It works correctly with the Canon 1Ds Mark III camera's WFT-E2 II A wireless file transfer accessory. This is ancient and represents a real nuts-and-bolts network interface: you get to hand-specify host name/address, LAN SSID and password, user name and password, port number, DNS server, netmask and all the rest by twirling wheels on the back of the camera, so a minimum of trial attempts is a Good Thing! C.f. point 1: LOG FILES!
  • Works Great with Both Mojave and High Sierra; Easy Setup—Thank You!

I need FTP to support legacy network scan-from-copier_to_Mac. The installation and setup was simple and straightforward. I initially installed on High Sierra, then Mojave, and back now on High Sierra (macOS 10.13.6 on an SSD wo APFS), having downgraded from the aforementioned Mojave.

The machine where the server has been installed iMac 27’’ i7 High Sierra The machine which is supposed to access the server Mac mini 2018 Sharing is ON on both machines The router does show both computers, yet none is shown in the Finder sidebar Any guidence from developer? Will gladle change the rating once the app is working
  • Memory Usage Extremly High

Not sure what changed, but something is now causing the app to use 10 GB, YES GB worth of memory, and causng the app to crash at a high rate.
  • Perfect but there is a glitch with WebDAV

For some strange reason very rare and in long intervals the app will cause the built in WebDAV to stop function properly. After I go to FTP Server app menu and choose Restart option it starts working immediately.

I have some old Macs running on Mac OS 8 and 9 and since Apple has deprecated AppleTalk, I can't have any of those Macs communigate with my modern Macs. This app fits the bill perfectly as I can download files from the internet on my new iMac, turn on the FTP Server, go to where my old Macs are, fire up Fetch or Transmit, get the files trnasferred, and turn the server off whrn done. The server is password protected so you can ru e server at least that way on port 21. You csn also use SFTP for a secure link. Very cool to have this.

The app stopped working under the latest version of Mojave 10.14.4 (18E226). It states an error starting ftp server with no addiitonal log info. I emailed the developer weeks ago and sent a message on the web site and have heard nothing back. Don't buy.
  • Found the perfect FTP server for macOS after years of looking

I'm a Cisco engineer, and I need an FTP server for macOS (which I use for work). I am tired of having to start a Windows VM just to be able to run an FTP server in it. macOS used to have a built-in FTP server years ago. About 2011 or so, Apple removed the FTP server GUI from OS X, but I could still run the FTP server with a bunch of shell commands. It turns out that in High Sierra and Mojave, the FTP server was removed completely (along with FTP client and Telnet). Even though FTP client and Telnet can be easily installed in macOS using Homebrew's INETUTILS package, the GFTPd server that comes with INTEUTILS is completely undocumented. I tinkered with GFTPd for a couple hours and was able to start it and log in to it remotely, I could not copy anything to it or from it. Finally, I decided to spend $5 and buy this app from the macOS Appl Store. This app works great on macOS Mojave (10.14.4). It took me exactly 2 minutes to download it and configure it. Then, I was off to the races copying large files from Cisco routers to my Mac, using FTP with this app running as the FTP server on my Mac. It can run in the anonymous mode, or you can configure accounts, do NAT in it, etc. It can be as simple as just clicking the Start button or you can really go to town configuring it. This is the first macOS FTP Server app that actually works flawlessly. I've been trying to figure out the FTP server solution for the Mac that costs less than a Tesla for many years now. This the app you need if you have been looing for a macOS FTP server application.
  • Simple and Easy to use - Thank you!

I think this app deserves five stars for it's ease of use and simplicity. I have several computers in different rooms of my house I need a way to access and back up my files to a master storage. I do not know much about FTP servers but out of testing numerous apps, I have found that I use this app the most. I've also not had any problems when using it! So many thanks to the developer!
